Hello Silver Falls Trail Runners,

Race day is almost here!  Sat/Sun Nov 4-5. We hope everyone is getting excited! This will be the final email sent.

This event is SOLD OUT, and each distance is completely FULL! Sorry NO refunds, transfers to other runners, transfers to next year or changing distance! Please do not contact us to change your pre-registered distance. Each race has a capacity limit and we cannot exceed those limits. Thank you

 

RACE START TIMES:

Saturday: 50K 7:30AM - Marathon 8:00AM - 7 Miler 9:00AM

Sunday 1/2 Marathon: Wave 1 9:00AM - Wave 2 9:15AM

LOCATION:

The Start/finish area is located at South Falls Day Use Area! SIGNS WILL BE POSTED!

Park Address: 20024 Silver Falls Hwy SE Sublimity, OR 97385

All parking and day use fees are covered by the organizers!

 

PARKING:

Enter the South Falls day use area and take a left just after the main fee booth and proceed to the event area. Lots of paved parking available near the start/finish area! Volunteers will be on-hand to help with directions.

 

CELL PHONE SERVICE:

Please note that Silver Falls State Park is very remote and nearly 15 miles from town. Currently AT&T is the only cell phone carrier that works at the park. Others are spotty here and there. Please be prepared.

 

TRAINING RUN:

Sat Oct 21st 8:30am. Meet at South Falls Parking area (start/finish of the race) and run either the Half Marathon or 7 miler courses. Park charges $5 per car for parking and please bring any snacks/refreshments you may need. Course maps will be available. Course is NOT marked for the training run! Each distance will have a LEAD person that is familiar with the course. Expect the run to be slower paced with a few breaks along the way.

PACKET PICK-UP/T-SHIRTS:

On Site Packet pick-up (at the race start/finish) Yes, you are allowed to pick-up race packets for others.

Sunday Nov 5   7AM-9AM

On site Packet Pick-up will be located under the big white tent next to the park shelter! Each race will have signs that read “Preregistered Packet Pick-up” along with race distance. Lines will form based on the first letter of your LAST NAME.

You will pick-up assigned race bib number/pins and goody bag at packet pickup.

 

T-SHIRT PICK-UP:

Available under the big white tent next to the packet pick-up area. Signs will be posted.

To pick up your shirt, please get your race packet FIRST then proceed over to the T-Shirt Pick-up area and hand the volunteer your assigned race bib Number. The volunteer will check mark the shirt size on the race bib pull tag and hand you the shirt size that was pre ordered.* If you feel like you need to exchange the pre ordered shirt for another size we can accommodate this request*

Shirts are available to purchase day of race for $20.00 cash or credit card. Sizes and quantities limited to stock on hand. Notice: We DO NOT mail shirts out! You must pick them up at the event.

 

POST RACE:

After each race there will be complimentary food, Vegi Chili, refreshments, beer garden and music followed by awards ceremony

FINISHER AWARDS:

All finishers from both days of racing receive a custom 2017 race medal.

 

AWARDS CEREMONY:

Will take place shortly after each race at the main stage. Custom awards for the Top 3 Overall Male/Female and top 3 in age divisions. Age divisions are 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70+. Top 3 Overall winners are excluded from age division awards! You may pick-up awards early.

 

RAFFLE PRIZE DRAWING:

Drawing will take place each morning using a random # draw. Prize winners will be posted near the main stage.

You may claim your prize any time after completing your race.

 

CAMPING:

There are a couple spots left for camping at Silver Falls…visit http://www.oregonstateparks.org/ to make campsite reservations.

 

WHAT TO WEAR ON RACE DAY:

We strongly suggest Trail Shoes, hat, gloves and jacket just in case of poor weather! There will be a large tent and park shelter with a hot fire! There will be a "Drop Area” located at the first aid station at mile 3.3! This DROP AREA is located right by the start/finish area. After the race please pick up your items left behind! Please note that we DO NOT have bag check.

 

TIMING/RESULTS:

This race will again feature chip timing and finish line announcing! Please WEAR YOUR ASSIGNED RACE BIB # ON THE FRONT AND MAKE VISIBLE DURING THE RACE AND AT THE FINISH LINE! The race bib number contains the timing chip and also signifies that you are a participant in the event and not a general park user. On the bottom of the Bib # will be a tear away tag with the attached timing chip. Volunteers will pull the tag AFTER you finish the race. Please DO NOT remove the tear tag before the race!

Individual result print outs will be available immediately after you finish.

Preliminary unofficial results will be posted during and after the race and posted online within 24 hours.

 

50K/Marathon CUT OFF TIMES:

Important-Please read! Per park rules, race logistics and safety, we had to implement cut off times for the Saturday 50K and Marathon distances. (The 7 miler and Half races do not have a cut off time)

RACE PHOTOS:

Nine22 Photography will once again be capturing all the action from the race weekend. Photos will be available online within 48 hours after the final race.

 

RULES:

We are guests of Silver Falls State Park and must follow all rules. Any violation of these rules will be grounds for disqualification from the race:

1. No pets allowed at the start/finish area or on the course.

2. Littering is strictly prohibited. (Garbage cans provided at each aid station and the start/finish area)

3. Runners must stay on designated trail at all times.

4. Runners must be respectful of all park users, volunteers and staff

5. Runners must wear the assigned race bib number on the front and make visible during the entire run and at the finish line.

6. Have fun! Please come with a smile on your face and enjoy the beautiful outdoors with us at Silver Falls St Park

 

WEATHER:

This race takes place rain or shine! Please be prepared. Traditionally this race has seen rain every year so expect a possible muddy and slippery course. Watch for very slick spots on the trails and especially over bridges and near any of the waterfalls. Please come prepared as possible as this will make your race experience more enjoyable.

 

DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME:

Clocks fall back 1 hour at 2AM Sunday November 5th. For those Sunday Half Marathon runners, please note this time change.
