Will you sell out/should I register early?
Yes, this race has sold out early every year. It is in your best interest to register on, or close to opening day to guarantee a spot. For 2025, Online registration opens August 1st 8am (Pacific time).
Is there a wait-list if the race fills?
No. We’re sorry. This race fills to capacity every year and when it’s full, we close sign-up and cannot allow anymore entries.
Can I get a refund?
We understand that plans change and circumstances happen, but entry fees are non-refundable. We do not offer refunds once registration transactions are processed. Please realize that events cost a lot of money to put on and early entry fees are used way in advance of race day for the logistics planning and supplies needed. Please note that proceeds from this event help with park maintenance, restoration, rebuilding and repairs and your contribution is appreciated by the Oregon State Parks, Drakes Crossing RFPD and The Friends of Silver Falls. Thank you.
Can I transfer or Defer my entry to someone else or to another distance or next year?
No. Sorry we do not transfer to others. When you registered you accepted the waiver and agreement. The waiver is for the registered participant only. We cannot swap your pre registered entry to another distance due to each and every race has a limit and we cannot exceed those limits per race. This race sells out in advance and there are limits on each distance. Sorry we cannot defer to next year’s race.
Are walkers allowed to participate?
Yes we allow brisk walking in the Half Marathon, 7 miler and 5K races only… We encourage all abilities to participate in our events! However if you choose to walk, you are not guaranteed to make the awards ceremony or have any hot food or coffee left after the event. Also course volunteers, photographers & staff may start packing up before you finish. We definitely do not discourage anyone from wanting to walk and encourage all ages and abilities.
Where can I pick up my race packet?
Packet pick up takes place at the race start/finish area. Packet pickup starts Friday night and each morning before the start of the races! Look for the Packet pickup signs. You are allowed to pickup race packets for others. See the Event Schedule here for important info.
Can I register the day of the race?
No.This race sells out early every year. We do not allow any day of race registration.
Is there a separate start for slower runners/walkers?
No. All participants start at the same time. However the Half Marathon and 7 Miler races utilize 2 wave starts and we encourage slower runners or walkers to choose the second wave.
Can my dog run with me?
No. Sorry, pets are not allowed on the course or around the start/finish area for the race weekend. Please see park rules regarding pets and service animals at the park.
Are headphones/earbuds allowed during the run?
Yes. Please be aware of your surroundings and courteous to others while running with headphones
Where can I see my results?
Results are streamed online and available immediately following the finish of each race. Unofficial printed results are provided onsite during the event and posted in the big white tent near the start/finish area. Individual results print outs are also available at the results table.
Is there photos at the event?
Yes. The great crew from GCC Photography is always on hand to snap the action and have photos available to view within a day or so! However, photographers are voluntary and not guaranteed to capture everyone’s photo or stay the duration of the event.
If I have to leave early, can you mail me my award?
No. Sorry. However you can pick it up at our next scheduled event. You can always have a friend or family member pick up your award.
Are there restrooms & showers?
Yes, there are several porta potties and a big park restroom near the start/finish area and other park restrooms are open as well. Showers are located at the campground.
How is this course marked?
We use white flour lines and arrows on the ground, bright colored flags and cones and mile markers at aid stations. We strive to make every attempt to have a very well marked course.
What are the course cutoff times?
We have to implement cutoff times for certain distances to help keep runners safe and to ensure volunteers and staff are not out longer than what is reasonable. Please see CUTOFF INFO HERE.
Do I have to wear my race number?
Yes. On the front and visible during the run and at the finish. The race number is how you are timed and scored. If we can’t see your race number, you may not be listed in the results. Race numbers also signal to the general park user that you are a participant in the event.
What drinks and food are provided at the finish?
We always provide a hot dish (chili, stew, soup, etc.) fresh fruit, snacks, and Great Harvest Bread w/ Peanut Butter. Beer garden, hot chocolate and Silver Falls Coffee. Always have plenty of water on hand and HEED Electrolyte. Sorry, we do not provide alternatives to the main dish. We try to be fair and provide something that appeals to most of the crowd. If you have special diet needs, please be advised that we cannot cater to everyone. If you require something other than what we provide, please bring with you. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Are you selling t-shirts?
Yes. Tech Shirts are available to purchase online along with your entry and/or are available to purchase day of race. Shirts are gender specific and come in sizes from Women XS all the way up to Men XXL.
Am I eligible for drawing prizes even if I don’t finish?
Yes. All participants and volunteers are able to join in our post race raffle.
How will I know if I won something in the raffle?
The random raffle takes place in the morning of each race and winners are posted on the board near the main stage in the big white tent.
Who can win awards?
We are giving awards to top 3 male and female overall and top 3 in age groups in each race. Age groups are every 5 years…
What clothing should I wear?
This will definitely depend on the weather conditions on race day. Keep a close eye on the weather forecast leading up to the race. Typical November conditions in Oregon = cold and rainy. Please come prepared, it will make a more enjoyable experience.
What kind of shoes should I wear?
This race takes place on dirt single track trails, gravel and some pavement and most conventional running shoes work just fine. There are sometimes sharp rocks and slippery surfaces. Since this race takes place in early November, the chances of standing water and mud is very likely. Trail Shoes are recommended but not necessary.
